Research and Information
The Project produces research bulletins on labour market issues covering unemployment and employment. It also produces specific research projects, ranging from developing advocacy initiatives, good practice in recruiting volunteers and good practice in employment practices.
Campaigning
The Social Inclusion Project is the campaigning arm of the Peoples Centre and works to develop social policy with local, regional, national and European decision-makers. A strong theme of the campaigning is around anti-poverty issues most notably the on-going “peanuts4benefits” campaign which aims to highlight poverty benefit levels, and the Child and Family Poverty hearing which fed into the Joseph Rowntree Foundation’s national research.
Community and Trade Union Liaison
By working closely with community groups including pensioners and other anti-poverty organisations throughout Merseyside, the Social Inclusion Project can bring campaigning issues to the decision makers at a local, regional, national and European level. The project also works with trade union colleagues on workplace related issues within the remit of an anti-poverty strategy.
