Welcome to
the amicus-MSF Merseyside Community Branch home page.
The Community
Branch is the first point of call for employees in the Not-for-Profit Sector
on Merseyside regarding all issues of industrial relations. The Not-for-Profit
sector comprises organisations from small charities to large, national housing
associations, community-based ventures and therefore a wide and diverse
variety of employers. The workplace issues arising from such a varied sector
are equally wide-spread. We have long-standing experience in dealing with
these issues both to help our members individually and to negotiate the
best deals for workplaces collectively. Since its merger in 2002 from the
MSF and AEEU unions, amicus has become the second-largest trade union in
Britain with a strong presence not only in the Not-for-Profit, but also
in the manufacturing, engineering, finance, health and R&D sectors and
a Parliamentary Group of 115 MPs.
Apart from
the support and experience of a large union, the benefits to members include
a strong commitment to lifelong learning, equality and diversity, health
and safety and pensions provision, as well as to a sustainable work/life
balance and the environment.
